Our repair terms
Last updated 6 October 2026
The simple rules for every repair at BlackHood Garage. If anything isn't clear, just ask us before we start.
1. Your quote
- Quotes are free.
- A price from photos or the website is a guide. We confirm the price once we've seen the car.
- A written quote is good for 30 days.
2. When you drop the car off
- We note the mileage, fuel and any damage already on the car, and take photos.
- Please take out your valuables. We can't be responsible for things left in the car.
3. If we find more work
Sometimes more damage shows up once a panel comes off. We'll contact you first. We never do extra work, or charge for it, without your OK.
4. Parts
If your car needs parts we have to order specially, we may ask you to pay for them before we order.
5. Paint and colour
We match your colour using the paint code and by eye, and blend into the panels next to the repair when needed. Older or sun-faded paint can be hard to match perfectly. If you're not happy with the colour, tell us and we'll look at it with you.
6. How long it takes
The finish date we give you is our best estimate. Parts deliveries or hidden damage can change it. We'll keep you updated on your tracking link.
7. Photos
We take photos while we work so you can follow the repair. We only use them on our website or social media if you say yes. See your privacy.
8. Paying
- Payment is due when you collect the car, unless we have agreed something else in writing (for example, trade accounts).
- You can pay by bank transfer or cash. Our bank details are on your invoice.
- The car stays with us until the invoice is paid.
9. Collecting your car
Please collect your car within 7 days of us telling you it's ready. After that we may charge for storage. We'll always tell you the daily rate first.
10. If something isn't right
- Bring it back to us. If it's down to our work, we'll put it right free of charge.
- If your repair comes with a warranty, it's written on your invoice.
- We take good care of your car while it's with us.
11. Your legal rights
The law says our work must be done with reasonable care and skill (Consumer Rights Act 2015). Nothing in these terms takes away your legal rights.
